How to Set Up Weight-Embedded Barcodes for 3-Digit Product Codes

Hello I run a vegetable outlet and use a scale for weighing products. My product codes are 3 digits long. How should I set up the barcode profile in SalesPlay POS so that it works correctly with weight-embedded barcodes?

    Hi 👋

Thanks for your question and this is a good one.

Since you’re using 3-digit product codes and a scale that prints weight-embedded barcodes, you’ll need to configure a custom barcode profile in SalesPlay POS using the PLU (Price Look-Up code) setting.

Here’s how to set it up:

    1. Go to Settings > Barcode Profile in your SalesPlay POS backend.

    2. Click on “Add New” to create a custom barcode profile (default formats like EAN-13 can’t be edited).

    3. In the new profile, set the “Number of Digits for PLU” to 2.

      • This tells the POS to treat the first 3 digits after the prefix as the product code.

      • Example: If your barcode is 2101452500006 → 145 will be recognized as the product code.

    4. Save and apply the new barcode profile.

    Why set PLU as 2?

Because your product codes are 3 digits, setting PLU to 2 helps the system extract and match the correct code. For 3-digit codes:

    • ✅ Set PLU = 2

    • For 4-digit codes → PLU = 1

    • For 5-digit or longer codes → PLU = 0

More info: How to Add Weight-Embedded Barcodes

Let me know if you need help creating the barcode format itself or testing it with your scale!

    Hi,

There can be several reasons for the “No products found” error when importing a CSV or XLSX file using the products template.

One common issue occurs when data is copied and pasted from another document, this can cause hidden formatting issues that interfere with the upload. We recommend clearing all formatting before uploading the file.

Additionally, language or encoding mismatches (e.g., using special characters or different language inputs) can also cause problems during import.

To help you resolve this quickly, please send your product list file to our support team at [email protected]. They’ll review it and assist you with the import.

    Hello,

I recommend using the Variants feature for this scenario, as it will make things much easier for your staff. When you click on a pizza in the POS app, a popup window will appear, allowing you to quickly select the size (Large, Medium, or Personal) without having to navigate through different categories.

On the other hand, using Subcategories would require extra steps—first selecting Pizza and then selecting the size, which could slow down the process. You can still use Subcategories for different pizza types like Pan Pizza, Thin Crust, or Hand Tossed to keep everything organized.

    Hope this helps!
